Spirit Mountain Casino - Grand Ronde, Oregon

United Combat Sports packed the Spirit Mountain Casino Friday December 9th for the 5th installment of Caged Combat with former WEC champion Chase "Rage" Beebe & Enoch "The Animal" Wilson battling for the UCS Featherweight Title. Beforehand, both fighters said that they would show why they were in the main event and they did just that and more! Performing artist Molada London got the crowd hyped with the national anthem and the night had an amazing card filled with top talent from around the NW and beyond.

The main event opened with Wilson, from Tualatin OR's Team Quest, catching Beebe's eye right off the bat which made it extremely difficult for Chase to see for the rest of the fight. Beebe still was able to get the takedowns and top position in the scrambles, except for when Wilson went for numerous kneebar's though Beebe seemingly wasn't worried as his knee kept popping and moving out and he was not able to be tapped in this move. The fight was extremely close. Beebe had Wilson's back for the entire fourth round but couldn't finish the choke attempt. In the fifth round, Wilsonn was fined a point by ref Dave Hagen when in an attempt to heel kick Beebe in the liver actually caught him in the spine. This deduction was crucial as the final score from the judges was 47-47, 47-47, and 48-47... a majority draw.

Later in the NWFS post-fight exclusive, Wilson told the camera that the timekeeper didn't stop the time during the point deduction and he was robbed of thirty seconds. He also felt he should not have had the point taken and in his mind the belt shoud be his. Wilson also said that after his Coach & team review the tape, they will then decide whether or not to file an appeal with the Oregon State Athletic Commission. Beebe said after that he was unhappy with his performance but welcomed a rematch with Wilson, so we could see this title fight again in the future.

The co-main event between two tough vets ended in highlight reel fashion. "Fast" Eddy Ellis defeated JT "General" Taylor with a body punch to the solar plexus that immediately dropped Taylor and forced the ref to jump in and stop the fight at 4:53 seconds of the first round. Both fighters put on a striking clinic for the fans the entire round starting with a straight jab from Ellis, while Taylor displayed counterpunching and kicks that could have easily ended Ellis's night. But it was Ellis who finished Taylor with the solid body punch, earning him the Welterweight UCS title. Ellis hopes to parlay his performance into attracting the attention of the UFC top brass, while Taylor - the original Desert Dog - announced in the cage that this would be his last fight.

The lightweight title was up for grabs but nobody went home with it because Henry Martinez from Greg Jackson's camp couldn't make weight and since he defeated hometown hero Jake Mcknight by TKO at 3:42 in the first round, he only gets the win. Martinez apologized to the fans for not making weight and said how great it was to fight in the NW. He completely dominated Mcknight and should be coming back soon for a title shot hopefully making weight this time.

UCS 185 lb Champ Corey "Agnarr" Wyatt wanted the toughest man he could find in his last amateur performance and FCFF 185 Champion Jesse Apadoca was that man. Wyatt was very happy to finish his amateur career where he first earned a title belt and he thought it only right to defend it one last time. The first round was spent with both fighters patient to feel each other out and it wasn't unitl the start of the second round where things changed. Wyatt cartwheeled over Apadoca to get to side mount from a standing position, and it actually worked! He then caught Jesse in the side of the cage and started unleashing bombs until the ref stepped in and stopped the fight at 59 seconds of the second.

The UCS Fight of the Night was awarded to Team Quest Tualatin's Brad Ball & Midtown MMA's Benjamin Scoggins. This fight was certainly action-packed, starting off with a ground chess match with both battling for position. Ball came alive with his striking game, landing big kicks and punches that staggered Scoggins but Scoggins was a warrior that wasn't going down easily. In the second round, Ball finally landed a huge right hand that sent Scoggins to the canvas and he followed for the finish, but the ref quickly stepped in and stopped it awarding Ball the TKO win and both fighters the Fight of the Night award!
