Press Release from Spirit Mountain Casino

Boxing Icon Roy Jones Jr. Presents Thrilling MMA Card in "Caged Combat 4" on Friday, July 29

      Eddy Ellis                                                 James Birdsley

Grand Ronde, OR - Steve Lopez's injured foot is the break James "Birdman" Birdsley plans to take advantage of. Lopez, slated to meet "Fast" Eddy Ellis of Yelm, Washington on July 29 at Spirit Mountain Casino, broke his toe during training this week. Coupled with injured ribs, the Xtreme Couture lightweight reluctantly pulled out of his match with Ellis. Birdsley, the UCE lightweight champion from Salt Lake City, immediately stepped in.

"It's a bad break for Ellis," said Birdsley, perhaps not realizing the pun. "I'm more experienced than Ellis, I have a better ground game, and he shouldn't plan to hear the final bell." Indeed, in Birdsley's 37 wins (against 11 losses), he has stopped an astonishing 36 opponents.

Ellis (16-15, 13 wins by TKO or submission), who co-owns the United Training Center and is its head coach, is on a tremendous win-streak, having only lost one match the past six years.

Don't miss this action-packed night of fist-pounding brawls in the cage, promoted by Roy Jones, Jr.'s Square Ring Promotions in association with Spirit Mountain Casino. Tickets start at just $15 and are available for purchase at
www.spiritmountain.com or by calling 800-760-7977. A limited amount of seats will also be available to purchase on the day of the event at the Event Center box office. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the first bout scheduled to go off at 8 p.m.

In the co-feature, Seattle lightweight Eric Dahlberg of Team Demon meets Jory Erickson of Missoula, Montana's Great Northern Fight Club. Dahlberg is coming off a huge win over Douglas "The Phenom" Lima, who was 18-3 entering his fight with Dahlberg. Erickson comes off an important victory as well, a stunning knockout over five-time UCF veteran Brad Blackburn.

The seven-fight undercard is loaded with local talent. Salem middleweight Peter Aspinwall (3-1), a former SportFight amateur champ, takes on Portland's Tony King (3-3) in a middleweight tussle.

Portland's Tom Liesman makes his pro debut against former two-time Washington state high school wrestling champion Lee Morrison (2-2) in a lightweight showdown.

IFL veteran Aaron Stark (10-7) of Portland will fight Spokane's Jared Torgeson (6-7).
