MMA show to be broadcast in two parts on June 23 and 30


TACOMA, Wash. – SFL America: Team Challenge Seattle vs. Portland is heading to Myx TV.

The event, which merges all the excitement of professional MMA with the traditional team scoring system of collegiate wrestling, will be shown in two parts.

Part 1, which includes Rafael Brewster vs. Jose McKay Rodriguez, Joey Pierotti vs. Chris Evans, and Zach Skinner vs. Benny Vinson, will be broadcast on June 23. Part 2, which include Shane Friesz vs. Journey Newson, Cindy Halesvs. Liz Tracy, and Justin Harrington vs. Bryan Nuro will broadcast June 30.

Highlighting the event, which took place at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma on May 7, was a contest between Seattle’s Justin Harrington and Portland’s Bryan Nuro in a five-round bout for Harrington’s SFL America Lightweight championship.



“We could not have asked for a better way to kick off this new concept. The entire card was spectacular,” said promoter and SFL COO Brian Halquist. “This show, from the opening bout to the main event, has set the standard for future SFL America Team Challenge events very high.”

Team Seattle was coached by UFC veteran and owner of Combat Sport s& Fitness Jeff “Hellbound” Hougland, while Team Portland was under the guidance of Nick “Savage” Gilardi.

Fighters earned 9 points for a KO, 7 points for a submission victory, 5 points for a TKO, 3 points for a decision and 2 points for a draw with the winning team collecting the most combined points.

All of the bouts, including the two opening bouts, will be uploaded to the Super Fight League Youtube account following the broadcasts. The two opening bouts include Chris Stone vs. Kody Hammond and Anthony Zender vs. SeanGee.
