The FCFF Returns to Portland on July 12th with Three Belt Fights
and Pro Fight Main Event at "Rumble @ The Roseland 78"

Press Release from The Full Contact Fighting Federation

On Saturday, July 12th Portland's oldest and most respected mixed martial arts organization will return to the Roseland Theater for the 78th installment of "Rumble @ The Roseland." This is the Full Contact Fighting Federation's (FCFF) signature event featuring Professional and Championship level amateur fights in the 25-foot steel cage, known to fight fans as "The Slammer." The FCFF's 135-pound Title is up for grabs as well as the FCFF’s interim 155-Pound Title. There will be a highly anticipated 145-pound Superfight to round out belt level action. The "Main Event" will be a 170-pound Welterweight professional fight featuring two area favorites. Doors open at 6pm, fights begin at 7pm. Tickets available at Safeway TicketsWests or at the door on fight night. Updated fight cards and info at www.thefcff.com.

The Main Event features the professional debut of Jake Smith. Smith, known well by fight fans has fought three times in the FCFF, plus seven other times in a number of other northwest fighting organizations. He's racked up three Title belts from the NorthWest Championships and the FCFF. He is retiring his amateur record of 7-3 for 0-0 as a pro. Smith, a Vancouver, Washington native fights out of Rose City FC. He will face Josh Downing on July 12th at Rumble @ The Roseland 78. Downing is no stranger to MMA, he battled at Rumble @ The Roseland 27, seven years ago and won against Brandon Maynard. His last time in the MMA cage was in 2009 - it's been five years and at age 35 he's ready to make a comeback. Since competing he's been working in the MMA industry as a Manager at Rise Martial Arts in Albany. "These fighters are extremely different, but both need a win for different reasons. Jake is trying to launch his career, Josh is coming back to his. This dynamic is going to make for a tooth-and-nail fight," explained Kevin Keeney, FCFF matchmaker and co-owner.

The FCFF is excited to welcome back a former 135-pound Bantamweight Amateur Champion to the Slammer! Journey Newson, who was the FCFF's Champ at Rumble @ The Roseland 70 and 71 in 2013 comes back to face Jake Marshall to regain the title he lost to Ricky Simon (who has since turned pro). Overall Newson has seven wins against the region's best fighters like: Donnie Johnson, Jess Moore and Jeff Alden. This will be a battle of experience versus new fighter enthusiasm. Jake Marshall is rushing onto the scene with a 3-0 record. He has a TKO over David Robinson, a decision victory over Michael Savage and a round one submission victory over Joshua Roebuck on his mma resume. On Saturday, July 12th he will be in his first Title fight. "This will be a high emotion fight. Both men have big plans for themselves," said Keeney.

The FCFF's 155-pound Champion, Bryan Nuro is unable to compete on Saturday, July 12th. Instead, Justin True and Sean McNulty will face-off for the Interim FCFF 155-pound Championship Belt. "When Nuro returns there will be a battle of epic proportion with the winner of the July 12th fight," explained Keeney, "this fight is setting the stage for the next FCFF event." Justin True was scheduled to face Nuro in a rematch, instead he will go toe-to-toe with McNulty, a promising fighter from the Oregon Coast. True, from the Victor Submission Fighting Academy recently earned the "Absolute Chaos" belt in February by beating Garrett Rietz via an impressive 13 second knockout in round number one.

The final belt fight on the card at Rumble @ The Roseland 78 is the 145-pound Superfight. Two well-known FCFF veterans will finally face-off. Soliz is well respected for his wrestling abilities and holds a 8-4 record. He holds Title belts from Budo Fights, Knucklehead and the FCFF. In 2012 he held the FCFF's Featherweight Championship title, then lost the belt at his next fight. "Winning this Superfight is the next step to a Title shot. It's Sean's chance back at the belt," said Keeney. Kody Hammond has also been in search for a FCFF Title shot. He has a similiar mma resume with an 8-5 record. He's gone down in weight to face Soliz on July 12th. "This fight will settle who will be moving up in this division for a Title shot," explained Keeney.

The Rumble @ The Roseland 78 undercard is bursting with talent. Fight fans will enjoy a diverse fight card that includes talent like: Joe Edens, Sean Baker, Evan Schechter and Freddie Bailey. Plus a women's fight in the 185-pound division. More info and updated fight cards at www.thefcff.com.
