The TRAC - Pasco, Washington

Anthony Hamlett & NW Elite presented "Night of Champions"  at the TRAC in Pasco WA with a night of 14 amateur fights, including 3 title bouts. UFC star Chris "The Crippler" Leben was in the house and met and greeted fans for autographs & photos.

The main event for the 145 lb title was between Austin Arnett out of Team Execution in Lewiston ID, and hometown fighter Tony Sanchez repping NW Elite. After an initial exchange, the fight went to the canvas with Sanchez on the bottom working for submissions, while Arnett expertly worked out of them while dropping in some big shots from guard for the rest of the round. The 2nd round saw a quick Arnett takedown and from there he worked his ground and pound game, finally getting Sanchez' back and going for the RNC finish. Sanchez escaped but Arnett locked on a triangle that may have ended the fight save for the bell to end the round. The third round again had the same pattern with a quick Arnett takedown followed by more GnP. Sanchez did lock on a couple dangerous looking armbar attempts, but Arnett powered out of them before raining down some more ground shots, getting Sanchez's back and sinking in the fight-ending Rear Naked Choke.

In the 155 lb Championship bout, Gladiator MMA's Austin Springer had a triumphant homecoming by taking on and taking out Team Damage's Josh Solis by TKO in the first round. Springer was simply too much for Solis (who was a late replacement), coming out strong and landing some big knees in the center of the cage that put Solis to the canvas. Springer then landed some big shots standing in Solis' guard that knocked Solis loopy. Springer backed off, expecting the fight to be stopped, but referee Tyson "StraitJacket" Johnson let the bout continue. Solis was able to recover some but it really just delayed the inevitable as Springer worked in more ground and pound to finally finish Solis via TKO at 2:20 of the 1st round.

In the 135 lb Championship, Independent fighter Eric Johnson out of Walla Walla finished his opponent Alex Eastman in an entertaining battle via choke in Round 3. Johnson got the takedown in the third but Eastman worked his way up to the feet again. However he worked his way right into a guillotine that Johnson locked on from the feet before bringing it back to the mat and getting Eastman to tap.

Anthony Hamlett and NW Elite hold regular fight events in the Tri-Cities area.
