This coming Saturday, Oct 3rd, Tacoma native & Pro Fighter, Miesha Tate, will be headlining Brian Halquist's CageSport MMA event at the Emerald Queen Casino. She is scheduled to face Sarah Oriza out of Portland, OR in what may be her last fight, at least for awhile, in the Pacific NW. Jason Lusk had a chance to interview Miesha about her preparation for the fight & her possible move to California...

NW Fightscene: Any special training for this fight?
Miesha Tate: Yeah. I've been traveling and trained at AKA down in San Jose and at Cung Le's gym and then I went up to Urijah Faber's gym, Ultimate Fitness, and trained there for a week. It was awesome... very productive and I feel super ready for this fight!

NWFS: You may be moving to California? 
Tate: Bryan and I are considering it. We really want to because there is more opportunity down here not to mention the weather is better, lol! Its just a matter of getting the finances together to be able to afford the move!

NWFS: Are you looking for a new camp?
Tate: I love Victory Athletics. Its awesome training but I'm trying to think about the big picture and there is just more happening in California, like I said. The opportunity is better and its easier to get your face and name out there which is what I'm trying to do!

NWFS: Anyone else form Victory Athletics fighting on this card? 
Tate: Yeah, there is Me, Bryan Caraway, Sterling Ford and I believe that is it for Victory but don't quote me I've been on the road.

NWFS: Are you still fighting for Strikeforce? Anything scheduled?
Tate: Yes, I'm still fighting for Strikeforce. I'm actually signed with them so you are guaranteed to see at least two more fights from me between now and May with Strikeforce but I don't know when!

NWFS: Rumor has it that Strikeforce will be holding a 135lbs tournament?
Tate: So I've heard. I hope that rumor is true 'cuz I think that would be awesome!!! 

NWFS: Anything else you want to add?
