'Cure the Coach' Derek Cleveland Benefit - Nov 16th, 2013

Derek Cleveland, long-time NW Coach and head of Iron Lion Jiu Jitsu in Coeur d'Alene, recently underwent life saving surgery on his heart. While the procedure was thankfully sucessful, the surgery and aftercare has left Derek with massive medical bills. To help defray these costs, Greg Benjamin - a friend and student of Derek's - teamed up with a crew of folks to hold a benefit event at the School of Boxing and MMA in Spokane Valley on November 16th.
A day of submission grappling was followed up by an evening of amatuer MMA that saw 7 fights. In the main event, Katcher Francis stopped Darrell Birk with a 1st round TKO. More on Derek Cleveland's Iron Lion JIu-jitsu Academy at ironlionjiujitsu.com.
