E&R Promotions presents CAGEQUEST 3 - October 12th, 2013

Clover Park Tech College - Lakewood, Washington

Review & Photos by Hadley Griffith

E & R Promotions' CageQuest III October 12th was an absolutely amazing night of amateur fights with the four title fights, a superfight, plus a stacked undercard bringing the fans to their feet throughout. In the evening's main event, Team Evolution MMA's Woo Johnson walked away with Jordan Harrington's Cagequest 135 lb belt after 5 rounds of solid back and forth action; showing the fans that not only can Johnson go all 5 rounds, but against an extremely tough opponent.

Jordan Hyatt stepped in against Larry Perriera at the very last minute for the CageQuest 185 lb title and was able to upset one of the best ammy middleweights in Washington. The ground transitions and submission attempts and escapes were the most exciting of the night and incredibly impressive. Perreira tore one of the ligaments in his knee in the first round and continued to fight - showing no signs of the injury. It was an armbar by Hyatt in the second round that eventually stopped the fight, making Hyatt the new champion, and winner of Submission of the Night in a fight filled with submission attempts by both men that would have had many other fighters tapping.

In the CageQuest 145 lb title fight between Cameron Sevilla-Rivera and Nick Burnham it was the wrestler (Burnham) versus the striker (Sevilla-Rivera). The two battled hard through 3 rounds, but Sevilla-Rivera was able to get the win with a TKO to strikes at 2:19 into the fourth.

The fastest submission of the night was in the CageQuest 170 lb title fight between Nick Coughran and Fernando Heredia. Heredia exploded out of his corner and blitzed Coughran to the mat where he captured an armbar and got the tap just 54 seconds into the fight.

Fight of the night was in the 155 lb Superfight between Ardany Mora and Emmanuel Carter. Mora kept working for the takedowns and doing his best to transition on the ground, but Carter stayed safe from strikes and submissions and always got back to his feet. Standing, Carter had the advantage with great striking and footwork. Mora would let his hands go a bit, but didn't land as much as Carter. At the end of the fourth round, it was Carter that had sunk in a submission - a triangle - but time ran out. Mora made sure to get takedowns in every round, and was able to win a narrow split decision from the judges.
