Emerald Queen Casino - Tacoma, Washington

Halquist Productions presented the latest CageSport MMA event at the Emerald Queen Casino to a capacity crowd Saturday, October 3rd. This all-pro show featured in the main event Miesha "Takedown" Tate out of Tacoma taking on Sarah Oriza from Portland in a fight at 140 lbs. Tate said after the fight that she has been working hard on her standup, most recently for 3 weeks down in California at AKA and at Urijah Faber's Gym, and it showed in this bout. She stood and threw in bunches throughout the first round, landing punches, a couple of high kicks, and generally punishing a game but ultimately outclassed Oriza. In the 2nd, Tate continued where she left off coming out with a flurry that effectively KO'd Oriza just 8 seconds in.

[Tate spoke with NW Fightscene after the fight and that interview is HERE.]

The fight of the night and the only one to go to decision belonged to the 155lb contest between Lloyd "Cupcake" Woodard out of Missoula, Montana's Dogpound MMA and "Diamond" Ryan Healy representing Gresham, Oregon's Team Quest. The pair split the first two rounds which saw some great crowd pleasing exchanges. The pace of the third round was much slower with Woodard muscling Healy with takedowns and ground control to win the round and the fight and remain undefeated as pro at 6-0.

In a bout at 155 lbs, Bryan "Kid Lightning" Caraway of Victory Athletics defeated Eddie Pelczynski out of Orem, Utah by slipping under a high leg kick, getting the takedown, and grappling his way into a fight ending triangle choke hold of Pelczynski at 3:55 of Round 1.

In another excellent fight, Caraway's teammate Sterling Ford had to fend off numerous submission attempts from Dayne Aristizabal before finally wearing him down midway through the second, gaining mount, and raining down punches and elbows to force the stoppage.

Brian Halquist Productions next event at the Emerald Queen Casino is Battle at the Boat 74 on November 7th.  CageSport MMA returns to the casino December 5th. To learn more visit halquistproductions.com or emeraldqueen.com.
