COGA's Battle at the Bay II went down Saturday night at the Swinomish Casino in Anacortes WA with 11 amateur and 3 pro fights. The Main Event saw the return of Buck Henry Bisbey after three years out of the cage for a 145 lb contest with last minute replacement Charon Spain who filled in for Dominic Rivera. Bisbey came in fast and shot the double leg on Spain, but Spain caught him in a guillotine and Bisbey went out 0:18 into the first round. Afterwards, Spain spoke with NWFS and specifically thanked Cody McKenzie for teaching him the McKenzietine.

Bad Company MMA's Jeff Hatton scored the Submission of the Night in his Pro 135lb bout against Team Vandit's Brett Boska. The fight started with a huge double leg overhead slam by Hatton, and never slowed down.

Hatton was focused and controlled in his domination on the ground, but couldn't get the tough Boska to tap to a deep armbar. Boska scrambled, so Hatton fought him into a mounted triangle and rained down elbows. Boska threw up an arm to defend the blows and Hatton snapped it into a modified armbar and triangle. This time he was able to get the tap at 1:54 into the first round.

The night's remaining pro fight was a 170 pound face off between Jerome Jones (SikJitsu & TKO Fighting Arts) and Ken Alexander (Arlington Kickboxing Academy). It was obvious that both men had done their homework as they showcased their skills. Jones kicked and stayed out of range of Alexander's heavy combos, forcing Alexander to drive Jones to the cage wall and work for takedowns.

Jones stayed composed and defended well, using elbows and a peruvian choke to work himself back to the center. They exchanged kicks and punches until Jones put Alexander on his knees with a right hand that clipped Alexander's jaw as he rolled under a jab. Jones flew at Alexander who was able to scramble and wind up with side control. After working back and forth on the ground, Jones stood with Alexander riding his back and got a takedown just as the bell rang. The close battle continued in the 2nd and after trading leather in the middle of the cage, it was Alexander's turn to catch Jones with a heavy punch. However, when Alexander dove onto Jones looking for the finish, Jones was ready with a triangle and was able to secure the tap 2:03 into the 2nd round.

There were many great fights sent to the judges, but the Fight of the Night was the 170 lb matchup of Hybrid MMA's Brock Gorang taking on AKA's Jordan Sterjn. In the 1st rd, Gorang took Sterjn down and continued to strike while defending submission attempts. Sterjn would break Gorang down, strike from the bottom, and fight back to his feet. But Gorang was able to drag him back down and slipped in a deep rear naked choke just as the 10 second warning bell rang. Sterjn's hand was up, but he listened to his corner and refused to tap, surviving till the end of the round. In the second, Sterjn was able to slow down Gorang's attack on the ground and the two were eventually stood up by the ref. Round three opened with a head kick from Gorang and some good exchanges in the center of the canvas. Sterjn was able to keep the pace down when on the ground and struck as often from the bottom as Gorang did from the top. The two would scramble on the ground and have short exchanges on their feet, but Gorang would get the takedown again that had them on the mat when the final bell rang. After the scores were tallied, the judges were unanimous for Brock Gorang.

The Knockout of the Night came quickly in a 155lb MMA match. Team Vandit's Brian Brooks and Independent fighter Alec Faccone traded for less than a minute. Brooks took Faccone down for some ground and pound before standing back up and immediately knocking Faccone out. The bout ended just 0:40 into the first round.

Along with the 14 MMA fights, there was also a special treat for the crowd in the guise of a 135 lb San Shou fight with C3's Mike Ingersoll mixing it up with AKA's Christian Ortiz. Both fighters were quick and clean on their feet, but Ingersoll was able to secure more takedowns. The 90 second rounds worked against Ortiz who kept getting into takedown position too late and would be stopped by the bell. Ortiz was aggressive and kept moving forward with good combos and Ingersoll would answer with punches of his own and finishing with a takedown. The judges gave the very close fight to Ingersoll.
