Battle @ the Bay XIII Main Event winner Andy Nigretto
Combat Games MMA held their final event of the 2015 calendar year at the Swinomish Casino in Anacortes WA on November 14th, with 5 pro and 7 amateur MMA bouts taking place. In the main event, Orcas Island FC’s Andy Nigretto won his pro debut over Team Anarchy’s Chris Aparicio in a 180 lb catchweight fight. The bout was all on the feet with both fighters throwing hard leather. In the end, it was Nigretto’s fists that won the day, getting a TKO stoppage to strikes at 3:07 of the first.
The Co-main event was in the pro welterweight division and featured a clash between ACA’s Zach Conn and Ground Game MMA’s Fernando Heredia. In the first round, Conn got hold of Heredia in a muay thai clinch and cut his head with a big knee. The fight went to the mat, where Conn got top position on Heredia and turned the cut into a gusher with some hard elbows. Heredia survived to round’s end but the cuts were too deep for the ringside doctor to allow him to continue into the 2nd, giving Conn the TKO victory.
Heavyweight Paul Hoffman, repping Warrior Factory and Marcelo Alonso BJJ, picked up first professional victory by armbarring debuting Randy Zarza of AKA in the first round.
Ivan Salaverry’ MMA’s Jose Hernandez won his pro debut via a hard-fought Unanimous Decision over Bellingham MMA’s Lyndon Hirai in a bantamweight contest.
The first professional fight of the night was in the heavyweight division between two independent fighters, both making their debuts, and it was Juan Figueroa who proved to be too much for Matt Afalava, getting a TKO stoppage to strikes at 4:57 of the first round.
Bellingham MMA’s Hunter Clagett submitted Team Pah’s Ruben Melendez with an armbar at just 20 seconds into their amateur 120 lb contest.
Team Rock Solid’s Fernando Tovar landed a big right hand that dropped Siaosi George Pele, with Tovar finishing Pele moments later with strikes on the ground for a first round TKO win.
Orcas Island FC’s Tyler Nigretto came out and blasted Larry Vega, getting a TKO stoppage at just 20 seconds into their amateur featherweight fight.
Amateur lightweights Amedeo Conta of Livewire MMA and ACA’s Greg Eagle had an excellent back and forth fight, with Conta turning up the heat in the 2nd round and getting the TKO stoppage to ground strikes at the 2:18 mark.
In an amateur 180 lb catchweight bout, AKA’s Kyle McCoy landed a hard liver kick on Sacred Scars MMA Jacob Lane, which caused Lane to tap at 1:10 of the first round.
In a battle of the heavyweights, Cerna BJJ’s Lucas Shifflett submitted Independent fighter JT Dubuque with an armbar at 2:17 of the 2nd round.
In the opening fight of the night, ACA’s Deashawn Thomas knocked out Sacred Scars Kyle McGrough just 27 seconds into their 160 lb amateur fight.
