"Battle at the Boat" Prepares for its 89th Show!

Press Release from Halquist Productions

Tacoma, WA (October 31st, 2011) - Brian Halquist Productions has finalized the card for Battle at the Boat 89 set for Saturday, November 3rd at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA. Ticketholders can expect to see a bonus fight this time around with a 7th fight included on the card aside from the normal 6.

Tickets are still available through ticketmaster.com or by visiting any Emerald Queen Casino box office.

Headlining the card will be proven welterweights that are looking to move their way up the rankings. Vitaliy Demyanenko (21-0-0, 12 KO's) will be taking on Damian Frias (19-5-1, 10 KO's) in the main event that will surely feature lots of power with both fighters combining for 22 KO's out of their 40 career victories.

Demyanenko has not yet had a fight where he hasn't been dominant and will attempt to keep his record perfect against one of the toughest opponents he has yet to face. Frias is coming off a decision loss to the 7th ranked light middleweight in the world, Carlos Molina. Before that loss, Frias had 3 straight TKO victories and will attempt to mount another winning streak to his record come November 3rd.

Promoter, Brian Halquist, is thrilled about the main event taking place. "This is a classic main event that is no doubt made for TV. Fans are going to be in for a treat when these two step into the ring."

The most highly anticipated undercard is no doubt the bout featuring Portland, OR native Ray Lampkin (1-0-0) and Yakima, WA's Randell Corpuz (2-1-1). Lampkin was once a very promising amateur prospect with 4 golden gloves awards and the son of former NABF lightweight champion, also Ray Lampkin. Corpuz is your classic hard-nosed fighter that comes out swinging from the start and doesn't stop until the bell rings.

The rest of the undercard will be full of 4 round bouts packed with local talent. John Jay Mount (Elmo, MT) will be squaring off against Daryl Gardner (Spokane, WA) who will be making his pro debut. Coming fresh off a knockout victory in his last fight, Marcelino Pineda (Toppenish, WA) will be up against Dex Montenegro (Issaquah, WA). Landon Horseman (Yakima, WA) will be making his highly anticipated debut when he steps into the ring with Cory Vom Baur out of Spokane, WA. The two youngest fighters on the card, Vidal Cruz (Toppenish, WA) and Omar Avelar (Lummi, WA) will be battling it out for a victory. Rounding up the card will be a battle of debuts between Juan Carlos Rodriguez (Spokane, WA) and Angel Diaz (Moses Lake, WA).

"I'm extremely excited about all of these promising amateurs making their debut on Saturday. This is the largest crop of local boxing talent that we have had in years. These guys are studs and are going to be fun to watch as they develop as pros," said Brian Halquist, about the quality of the undercard.
Doors open at 6 pm with the first fight scheduled for 7.
