Press Release from Halquist Productions

Clash of welterweights headlines card at Emerald Queen Casino

TACOMA, Wash. – Battle at the Boat, the nation’s longest-running tribal casino professional boxing series, will celebrate its 106th installment at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma on Saturday.

The main event pits Portland's Virgil Green (11-4-0, 4 KOs) against San Francisco's Jonathan Chicas (14-2-0, 7 KOs) in a 10-round welterweight contest.

Presented by Brian Halquist Productions, the six-bout card will also showcase undefeated Isaac Tadeo and fellow rising-star Jeremy McCleary.

Tickets are available through the EQC box office and all Ticketmaster outlets. Preliminary bouts start at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Battle at the Boat 106 and all future Battle at the Boat events will feature the all new VIP experience with 3rd Row Seats being discounted to $75 per ticket. All fans seated in in the VIP section (rows 1-3) will have an exclusive access point and a dedicated server to further enhance a true VIP experience.

During intermission, there will be a special dedication to long time Tacoma promoter, Stan Naccarato, who passed away late last month.

Green will make his 2016 debut in the 10-round contest, having last fought on Dec. 29, 2015 when he fought undefeated Miguel Cruz in a televised bout on FS1. Chicas is coming off a TKO victory over Bilal Mahasin on Jan. 23.

“The main event has two boxers that are both hungry to climb up that ladder. Whoever wins this fight positions themselves to make a big leap in their division. That makes for an intriguing battle,” promoter Brian Halquist said. “You have two young, gifted boxers squaring off against each other. It’s anyone’s fight.”

Middleweight Tadeo (7-0-0, 3 KOs) faces Tommy Turner (4-5-0, 3 KOs) in a six-round semi-main event. Both came up victorious at Battle at the Boat 105 on March 26 with Turner scoring an upset victory over Andre Keys by first-round KO.

“Tadeo has done everything right each time he steps into the ring. He’s improved with each outing and brings a lot of fun and energy every time he fights,” Halquist said. “Turner presents a very interesting challenge for him. His power was on full display last time out when he knocked out Keys, who is a very talented fighter.”

McCleary will look to register his ninth career victory when he faces Giovanni Cabrera in a four-round super featherweight clash.

Additional bouts include Tacoma’s Will Hughes facing Antonio Neal, Damian Savino squaring off against Will Marshall and Andres Reyes taking on Marco Cardenas.
