Mike Gavronski lands a punch in the main event

A boisterous crowd of NW boxing fans were on hand for Battle at the Boat 102 on August 15th at the Emerald Queen Casino. In the main event, Tacoma's Mike Gavronski outworked and outclassed his opponent Laatekwei Hammond over 10 rounds to garner a 100-88 judges decision across the board. Gavronski has won 5 straight Battle at the Boat main events and is now 19-1-1 as a pro.

In the Semi-main event, Tacoma's Marquise Weston beat Utah boxer David Sanchez by unanimous decision after 5 rounds of solid action, with two judges seeing it 50-45 and the third 49-46, for the unbeaten Weston who's record is now 6-0-1.

The final undercard bout was a featured 5-round Super Welterweight matchup between Caldwell ID's David Lopez and Vancouver WA's Jason Davis. Closely-contested early on, the fight started to lean toward's Lopez' favor as the rounds wore on until Davis' corner decided Davis had enough and stopped the contest in the break between the 4th and 5th rounds.

Buckley WA's Jeremy McCleary sent his supporters home happy with a masterful 4-round performance to win a unanimous decision (40-35 x3) over Portland's "Dirty" Benny Vinson. McCleary gets himself back in the win column after suffering his first loss this past March and is now 7-1 as a professional.

In a Middleweight fight, Fife WA's Cameron Sevilla-Rivera power was too much for a game Steven McKinney with McKinney's corner throwing the towl to end the contest at 2:46 of the third round. Sevilla-Rivera moves to 6-1-1 with the win.

In the opening bout of the evening, Seattle's Alan Luk and Portland's Sean Gee got the crowd roaring when they immediately went toe-to-toe from the opening bell. The pair kept up their furious pace for 4 solid rounds and in the end the judges saw it a split decision (38-37, 38-37, 37-38) for Alan Luk who is victorious in his pro debut.
