Absolute Chaos VI - September 28th, 2013

Pacific Sports Center - Tacoma, Washington

Review & Photos by Hadley Griffith

Absolute Chaos 6 rocked the Pacific Sports Center in Tacoma Saturday September 28th with a mix of kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA fights - including two title fights. The first was for the Absolute Chaos Heavyweight Kickboxing Title and this turned out to be Fight of the Night. Sam Rice was the much larger fighter and landed vicious kicks throughout the five round war. Keeping his hands up, Riceheld the center of the ring for most of the fight, while Afalava circled and attacked with devastating combos. Afalava dropped Rice a few times in the fight with his heavy hands, while Rice was able to sweep Afalava to the canvas a couple times with his low kicks. Even when both men tired in the final round, they never stopped going for the finish. But both were too tough and too skilled to be put away, instead sending it to the judges where they handed a majority decision to Rice.

The main event was a title defense and also the last amateur fight for Jared Teer, fighting against Ryan Schecterson at 145 lbs. Teer, always known for his aggressive style and devastating power, ended the fight quickly with leg kicks to Schecterson's lead leg - dropping him twice early in the first round which prompted the ref to step in and stop the contest.

Knockout of the Night went to Juan Jackson in his kickboxing bout against Zechariah Pama in the 175 lb weight class. Relatively new to the sport, Jackson continues to prove that he is a powerhouse to keep an eye on. Showing good footwork and head movement, he remained calm and focused as he picked his openings against Pama, landing well. Pama looked for his strikes with good jabs, but got caught with a big right leg kick to the head and was knocked out for a brief second, ending the fight in the first round.

Submission of the Night went to Garret Reitz who had to battle for a guillotine against Alex Decoy in their 155 lb mma fight. Decoy and Reitz set a fast pace, circling and pressing each other against the ropes, both looking for takedowns. But it was when they had popped back to their feet and Decoy shot in again that Reitz attacked the neck. Reitz had to work for the angle and the neck as Decoy defended well, but Reitz stayed with it and locked it in, getting the tap early in the first round.
